Regional Power, a subsidiary of Manulife Financial, has been in the business of developing, building, refurbishing and operating hydroelectric power plants since 1985. Currently, Regional Power operates six hydro plants with a total generating capacity of 36 megawatts.

Our mandate is to develop and operate hydro-electric facilities to take advantage of:

  1. Proven technology that provides high value electricity generation for generators.
  2. High credit quality cash flow.
  3. Low and predictable operating costs.

Regional Power’s projects are selected based on minimizing the environmental footprint, facilitating permitting and stakeholder acceptance.

Regional Power is the proud recipient for the 2005 Blue Planet Prize which recognizes outstanding performance in sustainable management of hydropower schemes. Regional Power is quickly expanding it’s project portfolio with 5 sites currently in development and 3 sites under construction; 2 at Bear and Long Lake and 2 Ontario projects are scheduled to commence construction in early 2012.
